Implementing mindfulness in the workplace
Stress in the workplace is running at epidemic levels. Research has shown that chronic stress can lead to long-term physiological dysregulation, resulting in illnesses such as increased blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, digestive problems, headaches, backaches, sleep and eating disorders, as well as psychological distress leading to chronic anxiety, depression etc.
Mindfulness training has significant beneficial impacts on a wide variety of workplace related issues.
Mindfulness has been practiced for thousands of years as a training of the mind; to understand the mind and our thought patterns, to increase awareness and reduce suffering. It is a skilled approach enabling us to live in the present moment, to become aware of our experiences (inner and outer), to be equipped with lifelong skills helping us to respond rather than react.
Mindfulness Curriculum

and context. The course is based on:
The Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction programme (MBSR 8 Week course), developed in the 1970’s by Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre. This is a group based course to help people cope with stress, anxiety, pain and illness. Since then the MBSR course has been subject to considerable research.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, (MBCT), an 8 week course based on MBSR and developed by Mark Williams from Oxford University and colleagues. MBCT is recommended by NICE.
Mindfulness Midhurst provides recordings of practices and a folder with weekly notes.
